Danville National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers register of members [microform], 1898-1934.

The federal government opened the Danville National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, the ninth such facility nationwide, in the summer of 1898. It continues operations today under the control of the United States Veterans' Administration. Included for each resident are the veteran's name; resident number, rank, regiment and company; enlistment and discharge dates and places; cause of discharge; nature of disability when admitted; state of birth; age, height, complexion, hair and eye colors; indication of literacy; religion; occupation; marital status; state and town of residence; nearest relative's name and address; readmission, transfer and discharge dates; pension certificate number; death date and cause; grave location; and personal effects inventory.
